Well, I'm back in full force...full class load...learning new things every day...THIS is the way it should be. As you may have noticed, I really did not speak on the presidential campaign happenings except once or twice up to this point. I know that in presidential elections people invest not only their money, their hopes for the future, but their emotions as well. Today in my Public Opinion class we watched a documentary called The War Room, specifically about the Clinton presidential campaign in 1992 against George H. Bush. Oh, how different presidential elections were back then. What disappoints me the most nowadays is that, whenever I watch these acceptance speeches and campaign speeches...I always say to myself....I COULD HAVE WRITTEN THAT! I mean Paula Kerger, the CEO of PBS, has better, more sophisticated speeches then what I'm seeing...for the TOP POSITION IN AMERICA YALL! One of Clinton's campaign speeches in 1992 was the demonstration of pure mastery...he said something like "Poverty is up. Jobs are down. Fear is up. Hope is down...everything is upside down, now we're gonna win this thing and turn everything right side up!" Not to say that this is perfect, and not to say that it was not degrading then-president Bush's character, but what ever happened to speeches like this? Save me the fila and drama for theater!
The beginning of Romney's acceptance speech was obviously constructed to 'pull on the heartstrings of Americans'...make us feel like he's just like us, like he's an oh so innocent, average American, wanting to invest in a business. I mean, yes he's human, but he hasn't necessarily lived a 'normal' life...in fact most politicians have not.
I couldn't even watch the whole thing...and what's with all the cheap shots? Romney says something to the effect of, "You know he's not doing something right when the day you were most excited is when you voted for him." Saying this as calmly as I can, how can someone be so heartless to degrade that THE DAY AMERICANS MADE HISTORY!?! I can't watch anymore. What ever happened to integrity?
Can North America go on a hiatus from having a leader til someone with a humble, hardworking spirit, without all the rude sarcasm and quick wit steps up? Mind you, make no mistake, I'm not just talking about Electorate Romney, but this seems to be a recurring trend that's only getting worse...we had then-President Bush Jr., then Sarah Palin...I mean really? There are no other REAL qualified people willing to fundraise??? I just think it's bad when I KNOW I can write better speeches than what's being slapped on the podium before these so-called politicians. WHO IS RUNNING THESE CAMPAIGNS TODAY? Where are the James Carvilles? No he [Romney] didn't say that President Obama lacked the primary qualification to even be elected. I don't care whose side your on...TOO FAR IS JUST TOO FAR...Enough has been more than enough for a long time. I'm not even siding at this point and President Obama is guilty too of the side humor. I'm not trying to convince you to side...but won't you just think about it for a moment. If I ever run a campaign it will be to bring integrity back! We've got hope, but our individual self-pride, humility, and honesty seem to be lost in the wind somewhere...
Going back to the Clinton campaign, James Carville was the head consultant of the Clinton campaign, married to Mary Matalin, head consultant of the Bush Campaign. Carville made the comment that...it's the most American thing you can do...a husband in wife in the same horse-buggy, canceling out each others votes! And they got along just fine. If America can ever get to this point, to agree to disagree (easier said than done I know, will probably never happen due to greed and misunderstanding on both sides) and have all inclusive leadership, we would be just fine and happy. Big generalization...but you propose something better...this whole Republican/Democratic thing is getting old. maybe we should try a dictatorship for a change....??? lol

Back to [Sch]Cool!
Hello there ladies and gents...
it's been quite some time. My summer was amazing. Simple, but amazing...sometimes less is more. What do I mean exactly (?), well, I stayed home in DC this summer, with my grandmother, which was great. Grandma, honestly has become my best friend. We are comfortable saying what's on our minds aloud, openly joking about anything and almost everything. I realize that even in hard times, laughter is where you can find the solace and the strength to carry on. I worked on organizing ScholarCHIPS' Inaugural Awards Ceremony in June, which took place June 23, 2012 at the George Washington School of Business and the Mistress of Ceremony was none other than my grandmother...Ms. Wright! :) View pics of the scholars and the event here: www.facebook.com/ScholarCHIPS (stayed tuned for a scholar interviews vid). In July, I did my internship at PBS, The Public Broadcasting Station headquarters in Crystal City, Virginia. It was truly a learning experience and the employees are as nice, and as hardworking as you would think on account of watching their programing...ie, Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, Sesame Street, Frontline, etc. I had the opportunity to help with their big annual Press Tour (in California) and I wrote several stories for their weekly newsletter called PBScoop...I was even featured in the newsletter my last week. I enhanced my writing skills and learned so much about the "professional/business world." Nothing that I didn't necessarily already know, but it's different when you discover something by doing it firsthand:) August, I was flying all over the city giving out ScholarCHIPS tees, networking, and catching up with my friends from back home. There nothing like true friendship. I hope I'm not boring you to death...I promise when classes start Tuesday, I will be capable of presenting you with intriguing and possibly new info/ideas. There is amazing news though. As few know and many don't, I decided some time back to fiddle into Plus Modeling to see where it would lead me...very interesting field I might say. My first callback, I later found out was to a phony agency, I had been rejected from one of DC's top Modeling agencies, because I was told, they do not accept college students, however at the tail end of the summer I was accepted into FFX Runway's Modeling Academy (it's a clothing line launching a plus model line). I will be one of their plus model faces :) Crazy, huh? Coming up will mark my one year anniversary of vlogging (video blogs on Youtube)...it's one of my many niches. I LOVE TALKING...and making u guys laugh. It's a different kind of creativity I experience when presenting in front of the camera. Veyr different than writing and I absolutely LOVE it! My lovely grandmother, won't mind me saying, but she doesn't always like me editing videos with my face in my [lap]top...but Communications is my major...I'm just practicing for the real world!...lol
Anyhow, being back in college feels GREAT! As a sophomore, I already feel a sense of seniority (for lack of a better term)...not in an arrogant way, but I am proud I successfully survived freshman year and am here again to knock it out of the park AGAIN. Seeing friends feels great. I've read Zeitoun. The freshman reading this year...I'm expected to present to faculty and classes on it, as the main character is captured and put in prison due to racial profiling. In brief the book is based on the lives of a real Muslim family, who lived in New Orleans at the time Katrina hit. It was a tragic state of affairs....many things I learned through reading the book I didn't know before...for instance a prison was built in new Orleans during the time of flooding in the likes of Guantanamo bay, troops from every force were stationed in New Orleans...National Guard, Iraqi Troops all armed with rifles (I know you might have know this, but I was young at the time and didn't follow the tragedy every day on the news)...but news that troops were terrorizing survivors in the city was left out breaking news reports, looting was going on, the major and governor were butting heads, FEMA was taking prisoners, etc. It's a graphic a deep book, that reveals the horrifying truth behind the events that took place in that abandoned city. I will get into more details at another time. Hope you are ready for another year, whatever your profession is...you know I always encourage learning...constantly look for opportunities to better yourself, and expand your mind...you're never to old or young for that. TTYL! -Yaz
PS: Just for the record, if you haven't figured it out already...I'm perfectly fine with letting my life be exposed for the benefit, learning, and human interest of others...via blog, via vlog, via poetry, etc. I have nothing to hide and I enjoy it, it's what I love. Lessons can be learned and laughter can be found even in our folly and embarrassing moments. Too many are unhappy because they are not doing what they love...If you do what you love, you will be successfully anyhow!

Chick-Fil-A [Controversy]: Is Christian Based Company, What Did You Expect?
haha. Silly me...I have been hearing people ask around out load and on Twitter things like "Have you stopped buying Chick-Fil-A or are you going to buy Chick-Fil-A today? Have you heard about the Chick-Fil-A incident?" So today I google "Chick-Fil-A Incident" and the first thing I come across is a Chick-Fil-A employee being fired after putting the names "Ching" and "Chong" on two, Asian long-time customers' receipts, but that was in December of 2011 or so. I say to myself "This can't be it," and I search further and find titles such as "Chick-Fil-A Reveals it's Views on Same-Sex Marriage," "Chick-Fil-A and Other Companies Take A Stand," "Backlash from Chick-Fil-A Opening Up Opinion...." You know. And I found out that many companies have recently been opening up about their stances on Same-Sex Marriage. Many support it, but Chick-Fil-A does not. Chick-Fil-A is a Christian based company, it was founded on Christian morals, so honestly, this should not be a surprise to anyone, Christian or not. Christians believe the foundation of marriage between one man and one woman. If you have a Muslim based company, wouldn't they stick with and stand by their morals?...the same with a Jewish company or a Buddhist company. Duh. lol Some articles said that Chik-Fil-A does not hire gay workers. I do not know if this is true, but I will say this...a company's workers REFLECT that of the company. YOU would not want someone working for you who doesn't represent you, right?
I'm speaking in a general since, yes, but that's because I want you to look at the bigger picture and not get caught up in your emotions. There a club in Elon, NC right across from my school called 'Plantation' and they do not admit Black people! I think that the most ridiculous and funniest thing ever by the way...a plantation with no [black] slaves (?)....what kinda plantation you running?! lol But I don't get mad...it's their business and they decide what they want and who they want.
People always gets mad when someone, a group, or a company promotes the cause of Christ, or Christianity but it's okay if people want to have Swing Parties, or have a Pride Parade or Comedians can say whatever they want to say...it's something terribly wrong with this picture. The mindset of the world is definitely perverted. If you want to dis and miss Chick-Fil-A's delicious Polynesian sauce and scrumptious milkshakes that's on you....but don't get mad at people believing what they believe, when YOU want to feel entitled to believe and do what you want, when you want, and nobody say nothing to you. It doesn't work that way boo. lol
I'm going to leave you with two quotes and I'm gone...Ronal Reagan said this, "If we ever forget that we are a nation under God, than we will be a nation gone under." (Personally I think many done already forget! lol) Webb Simpson said, "Freedom of speech" does not mean "freedom from criticism about your speech."
I know everyone will not agree with me, and everyone is not Christian, but again you wanna believe what you wanna believe so don't bash me and dont bash good food! lol People can be so silly.
