My Next BIG PROJECT? I NEED YOU!

Dear Beautiful/Handsome,

I need your participation this time. No silence. No hiding. lol I am back in school and there are only a couple months before my freshman year is a wrap! However, for the rest of the semester I only have two classes, Global Experience and African History. The other two classes were only half semester courses. This means that I will have a significant amount of time on my hands and I need your help so I can decide how to maximize this baby! I want to use all this spare time to work on something, big and something FUN! I am thinking things along the lines of...writing a play script/movie script, seeking ways to make my Youtube channel more professional, plan out a research project and apply for grant money from Elon for next year to complete it (ie: $ for research to do a documentary on teens with incarcerated parents and maybe make it like a movie/documentary with a few actors? and then submit it to big competitions/movie festivals?), seek out acting roles in NC, write some God-inspired poems (like the real deal), maybe become certified to be a personal fitness trainer @ Elon? SO MANY EXCITING IDEAS...What do you think? Apply for a tv program like Brave New Voices? I know I cannot do everything, but I want to step out of my comfort zone and experiment while I am not working and have a light academic load. Facebook message me, email me, or comment below and tell me your ideas for YAZZIE'S NEXT BIG PROJECT...?

Jada Pinkett's New Song "Burn" and Lil' Kim Performing Live?

Ok. Jada Pinkett just made a song release called "Burn." She says it's a dedication to her "husband" Will Smith she is supposed to be divorcing; she is singing about how much she loves him. In my opinion, it sounds absolutely horrible. Her daughter Williow Smith sings better. haha Honestly, I am not so sure that singing a song is going to heal a marriage filled with infidelity, but who knows...it worked for Chris brown and Rihanna. Then, I just saw on Facebook Lil' Kim doing a performance for BET'S Rip the Runway. She looks good physically. I haven't seen her do live performances in years. I honestly think she is competing with Nicky Minaj, as she wore the skin tight half see-through body suit, as Minaj always wears. For Lil' Kim's age, physically she looks very good. I am not going to comment on the trashy clothing though. Why can't some female singers take pointers from Adele...she dresses so classy!
Lastly, I just did a Youtube video on my favorite things! Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMaozPRMOJo

Trayvon Martin (one of many), Whitney Houston, and Actor Marcus Patrick

I am sure you guys are wondering why I have not touched on the Trayvon Martin case. Well here goes. I learned a couple of things today. I do not have much to say about the Trayvon Martin case...mainly because you already know what I am going to say. It is terribly sad, but honestly this happens all the time. Racist white police officers shoot down innocent black men simply walking down the street all the time. I know a Black lady at my home church who not too long ago had a young cousin or nephew who was shot down by the police and he did absolutely nothing. Trayvon Martin is one of the hundreds who made the tabloids. Unfortunately racism will never stop, and when both power and a weapon are given to someone with the wrong motives and a blindfold of hate, you can be assured that a tragedy is destined to happen. I send my condolences out to his family. You just never know. He was so young.
Here is a link to President Obama commenting on the Trayvon Martin case: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efZNgSEpB1k&feature=share
Since we are on the topic of deaths, the papers released "the reasons behind Whitney Houston's death." They say she had cocaine and water in her system, which led to her demise. I do not believe this whole-heartedly because I strongly believe that the Illuminati did some serious manipulating in this story. On yahoo news some time back, reporters stated that Illuminati members who were also at the awards ceremony that night told authorities to hold her body in the hotel room until after the awards ceremony was over. Oh yes and out of all people some, young pretty boy, R&B singer who had no business dating Whitney, just so happened to find her in the bathtub...? hhhmmm I do not take what the news or papers report for 100% truth anymore, not even 50%. Don't take my word for it, do your own research you may be surprised what you find.
Lastly, something I discovered I did not know, handsome Black actor/body builder/model Marcus Patrick is gay. Apparently this is not a new fact, but I am just finding out. He is called "one of the most beautiful men in the world," born of Jamaican and Irish parents. He did a seriously controversial photo shoot for Playgirl Magazine in 2007 and has played in several movies ("LOVE and Other Four Letter Words") and sitcoms ("Days of Our Lives" and "My Wife and Kids"). He was honored @ what is called the Blatino Oasis back in 2009. It was hosted by MBA player for the RockDogs, Mike Survillion. They say he is the only out gay professional basketball player and narrator of MTV reality show "Shirts and Skins." Is he really the ONLY one? I am not going to comment much, because you already know what I think. So many rich, beautiful men not interested in women...oh, what's a woman to do?! lol, no seriously....???? I cannot judge, I can only wonder......

GAME OVER! haha, No Just Spring Break.

Hey beautiful...hey handsome. How are you? Well I hope! As for me, this morning I feel like a writer...I feel inspired. While my roommates are snoring away and the sun is slowing rising and the birds are chirping their praises...here I am, writing to you. Elon Gospel Choir Tour 2012 is coming to an end now. It was an amazing experience. How can you not have an amazing experience in Orlando, Florida and Cocoa Beach? lol We did a little bit of everything. Aside from the beach, we went shopping at one of the big mall outlets...you know, those elaborate ones they always drop dead in the center of the fancy resorts. I always think it's so funny how things in America are always set up so that you will always buy more and convince yourself you need something, especially because it is 'on sale,' when you really don't. They get me every time. haha. We also went to eat at Chipotle (yyuumm) followed by bowling. That same morning we went to IHOP and the boys and girls split up. I lead the girls' or better yet Women's Bible study. When I was asked, I laughed to myself. I was willing though. God ALWAYS makes me do something when I least expect it or when I do not want to do something. I realize, that those are the times when He can get the most out of you. I believe that God does have a sense of humor, as knowledge, emotion and humor separate humans from every other living thing. We also did community service @ the Salvation Army.
Anyhow, the Lord led me to Ephesians 4 "Unity in the Body." Without unity, we all fall. It is so important in this ministry to be unified. The discussion was fantastic and eye-opening. I will not get too deep into it because I want you to read Ephesians 4 yourself, and tell me what you got out of it! We learn best form each other. (Aside from this, I have to mention, I got a final grade A in my Public Speaking class!) I will never forget that the teacher wrote on my first evaluation that "Good Afternoon" is not an effective attention getter. I was thinking, WHAT? WELL GEESSS! I can't even greet my peers with a good 'ol American Good Afternoon? That was not even a part of my "clincher/hook" as they call it. Lol That class was too funny. It stressed me out in a crazy, funny way. There was another time my professor wrote your visual aid was too busy. I thought, "IT'S A COLLAGE!" That class was too funny guys.
Ok now back to Gospel Tour...guys, if this week was not a test of my patience, I do not know what was. I love them dearly, but my Black folks are never on time for anything. Not even food apparently. haha. I mean this in a light-hearted way. It's so bad that the leaders have to tell us to be somewhere two hours ahead of the actual time we need to be somewhere so people get there on time! lol My grandma didn't play that! Our thing was, you want people to be respectful of your time and value your time, so be respectful of theirs. This is a career/professional rule of thumb for me. I got close to some amazing and inspirational people. To see God using all of our various talents, strengths, and even weaknesses for a higher purpose greater than ourselves is so inspiring and humbling. Our musicians keep making fun of me and my BBLLLOOOGGG! (One of them, our drummer, who we call Juice lol, I discovered had dreams of possibly being a pro-football player, but God had other plans for him and He's here with us.) I have yet to find out our pianist's story and how he got here. I got to get him to say something other than 'BLOG' first. haha. jk. It was all good and fun...I mean, what can I say? Blogging is what's hot right now on the block of social media! If you can't bet 'em, join 'em, no better yet, reshape 'em.
Well anyways, enough of my tangents, its adios to the care-free, socializing, warm-weather, beaching Spring Break and back to the ultimate reason I'm here in the first place. The only reason I can sustain my theme! lol If you are reading this from email, I posted a few Spring Break pictures to the blog. Check em out! Love you lots. Stay encouraged and lovely, just the way you are:) Til next time, Love Always, YAZZIE

Cocoa Beach, Will & Jada Divorced? 13yr-old Black Girl Persecuted for Fred. Douglass Speech/Chris Brown and Rihanna?

Ok guys....stop the press! I have to do much better than this...I am following like 40 something people on Twitter and I only have 24 followers. If you have a twitter please follow me @YazzieBeau93. Now for the REAL NEWS! Lol One more week till Spring Break, trying to keep my mind from floating there too early:) Gospel Choir tour to FLORIDA! We are going to tis place called Cocoa Beach! hhhhmmm I say, "OOhhh Watch out now, that sounds like my kinda place!" And I may get a tan...my friend is going to go from calling me caramel to Cocoa. jajajajajajaja. Anywho, Oh, so they finally realized that an "open relationship doesn't work!" Jada Pinkett and Will Smith, tabloids say are getting a divorce! WHAT? So sad if this is true, but I mean, Jada came into the relationship some 10+ years ago with Will while he had a girlfriend. mmm, "Once a cheater always a cheater." (Though I really don't believe that). Jada was messing with some other guy Will came home to find in their House and now she is claimed to be with one of Will's famous guy friends (whose name I can't remember). And now...they are showing pictures of Will with, check this...LISA RAYE! That girl is beautiful! I guess he said well, bump this, THIS TIME I'm going for the THICKNESS! My girl raye, raye is packing.
Ok. Now here's the REAL NEWS! A 13-yr-old by the name of Jada Williams was persecuted for...(no not for cheating lol) for her essay/speech on Frederick Douglass. Long story short, she wrote a reflection on his book Narrative of The Life and compared his slave master shouting "if he learns how to read he's a no good nigga and he's good as dead," to the current condition at here school. Young, brave, honest Ms. Williams said quote the “white teachers” do not have enough control of the classroom to successfully teach the minority students in Rochester.
Her essay was actually never submitted into the competition via the school. Her teacher made copies of it and shared it with other teachers and the principal. They as a result outcasted her and she all of a sudden began getting bad grades. They referred her to an even lower performing school and when she tried to go to a different school they rejected her (probably based off of prior warning from her first). Her mother had to quit her job to home school Ms. Williams, but the highlight is that Jada received the first Spirit of Freedom Award from the Fredrick Douglass Foundation of New York Feb. 18, 2012
Please read more @ the link @ the end of this piece and other sources. And let me finish off by saying honestly, this is a damn shame. Am I surprised, no! See what Jada will one day grow to understand is that in order to pull off things like that successfully, she will have to "say it without actually saying it," and there are ways. Do you remember Severn Suzuki speaking at UN Earth Summit 1992? Susuki actually said it, but as a poor black youth in New York, she was an obvious and easy target. She will learn and she will go down in OUR history books, or @ least in my blog and others. lol But if there are youth who see that teachers purposely overlook students' illiteracy, then there is a problem. Lastly, what kind of teacher are you if you don't know that 10 of your students cannot read, or even worse, if you know and do not fix it? When I get my own REAL SHOW, I will bring this young lady on the show when she is grown and see what route her life has taken as a result.

Challenge Accepted

Had an interesting yet quite, but pleasant day for a Saturday. My room was on tour for a family weekend so I went to the library to study/do homework and sure enough after an hour I was fast asleep on those comfortable couches they have in the back for 3 whole hours! That was the best sleep I have had in a while. Got great news that we have 2 more ScholarCHIPS applications and they are both from schools in Maryland. This makes for a total of six applicants! Not bad for the first year. I was saddened to get the news that some folks asked to be taken off the emailing/mailing list. I mean for 1)If you send a check it usually has your address on it which you selected when buying your checks (we want to send you thank you cards), and 2) ScholarCHIPS has only sent out like two or three emails in almost two years! That is not an exaggeration yall. One organization whited out their address and wrote on the invitation envelope return to sender and please do not send mail here anymore. This kind of stuff really not only discourages my heart, but hurts my heart. Again, people never surprise me at how mean, rude and selfish they can be. ScholarCHIPS doesn't want your money! We want to build a FAMILY! A family of supporters, volunteers, donors, and most importantly students with parents in jail who know that there are people who genuinely CARE for them and WANT TO SEE THEM SUCCEED. Anywho, when things blow up, anyone who's not on the train...it will be their loss. All in all, everyone is not cut out for this type of work. I am not mad. I forgive them for being human.
Anyway back to my day, now here's the majestic part...yes, majestic! After my nice, luxurious library snooze I went to the main dining hall to eat and then to a praise dance service called "Worship in Motion." There was stepping, liturgical dancing, and miming...all so beautiful! There is something about live performances of Gospel choirs and liturgical dancers that just does something to me everytime. I had to move from my seat and my friends, just so I could go in the back and openly sing a long, cry, wave my hands and literally...PRAISE IN MOTION. It is so humbling to see all the talents God has blessed so many with. When we use them for good, our talents/gifts/crafts are perfected and they can and will reach people in the unique ways! Gifts used for the right purpose can save someone's life. All and all, I am so glad for the opportunity to be in college so I can see young, successful scholars praising God...so I can meet phenomenal leaders from all over the entire globe, so I can be a sponge in every setting and soak up new knowledge, so I can discover who I AM! These unique opportunities are the things that keep me motivated to bring other young people into this setting, that are otherwise overlooked, assumed, and doomed for failure. Folks can white out my letters, but I refuse for my name to be whited-out in the Book of Life!
PS: I was humbled by a challenge my beloved mentor gave me tonight over the phone. Church people tend to quote church-sims (things they have heard repetitiously growing up and have accepted them, but do not know the Scriptures in which it comes from). I must KNOW my faith and LIVE my faith and not simply regurgitate passed down information/sayings. So when life hits so painfully, as I suffered from a great depression just a while ago, I will have Scripture to ward off the enemy so he won't beat me up and leave me for dead. Its time for me as a young woman, as an individual, and as an heir to step up to the plate and study for myself and know for myself. #challengeaccepted

You did...SAY WHAT? Musiced, edited, and blooped.

Check out my new video on YouTube!

Chil' Please! The Alcohol Scoop in P.E.

Haha. Today in Health class (in which I still call P.E.) we talked about alcohol/consumption/dangers/ effects. And YOU KNOW I WAS ON! Not in that respect. I do not drink, but in class we read an article  about a guy some time back I think his last name was Huey or Huegley?...something like that in Virginia and he got so drunk that he killed his girlfriend. The defense set it up claiming that he was a "victim of his environment." WHAT? now you know that is ridiculous. (laugh) I rebuttal, you are not a victim of your environment, but a victim of your choices...in this case (not all I realize). Anyways, we also heard some freaky stories that happened on our campus and with our students off campus as well. For example there was a group of students who got into an altercation. One young man's neck was broken and he ended up being permanently paralyzed from the neck down. You think that is bad...there was a girl studying abroad in Australia. She became extremely drunk and her friends locked her in a hotel room. Still wanting to go out, this girl climbs out onto the balcony and falls to her death. WHAT? Crazy right? Most students like to use that whole, "Oh, lower the drinking age. 16 year olds drink in France everyday over dinner and they don't have any problems!" There it is right there though! We are not European, we are American. Enough said. Also, like the man who murdered his girlfriend, people always end up looking for some sympathy because "they were victims of their environment," CHIL' PLEASE! Let me try that excuse and see if they don't quick up and strip me from all my scholarships, all my credits, all my credentials, and MY WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE! I am Black and that "you know what" does not fly with us, or for us I should say, unless you are rich. Oh yes, Casey Anthony was simply a "victim of her environment," and her "beautiful two year old baby girl was hindering her from living an average American lifestyle." Ok. Well, whoever thinks that they are big and bad enough and grown enough to drink can have those excuses. I will stick to abstinence...I have too much riding on me and my name alone, but even greater than that I will have to give an account of my choices after this life. Don't get me wrong, I am far from perfect, but I try not to do what is obviously harmful. "Hi my name is Yasmine Arrington. I am Black and I am beautiful, and I am in college...and I do not drink."
Signing off Yours truly!
PS: Due to my abstinence from drinking, etc. I am ignorant to many terms. I just learned what the term "jungle juice" means and pre-game (earlier in the year). I know you may be tired of me using the term "Black," but hence that is the theme of the whole entire blog! lol Maybe one day I will surprise you and say I am something else! Jk I hope you see the humor in this..it's not meant to be drop dead serious.

Immigration Documentary:30 Days

I watched a documentary in Global Class called 30 Days. I think it might be a tv/documentary series, but anyhow, it was about a minuteman named Frank/Francisco, who volunteers/ed to do board patrol on the Mexico/American border. What was ironic about the situation is that he was an immigrant from Cuba to America (California) during the Cuban Revolution, but he (originally) absolutely HATED the idea of illegal immigrants crossing the border. So, he agreed to live with an undocumented immigrant Mexican family who lives in LA, California for 30 days. In that span of time he learned how hard life was for them both in Mexico and in America. He learned how humble, hard-working, and united they were; a family of 5 kids and two adults living in a crammed two room house. He went to Mexico to meet the family in which his host family in LA had not seen for years. He was able to see the broke down home they used to live in which had no floor or running water, or even bathroom. Of course he developed a great compassion for these people.
We did not get to see what his reaction was after going back home to his wife, who also helped him patrol the border. I think it was very interesting. As for me...I have always had a heart of compassion. When you know what its like to starve, struggle to provide for a family, endure racism, and things along these lines, then you will not have a heart of hatred against people who are risking their lives and their children's lives to have a life just a little better than the life they had in the slums. There is much American talk saying that if too many immigrants come over they will end up taking over or stealing jobs. That is ridiculous. You should have enough common sense to know that the "powers that be" are not going to let anyone overtake our country. The father of the household Frank stayed with said that "The truth of the matter is, is that we do not take the jobs from other Americans...WE DO the jobs they do not want to do."
Just thought I'd share something that might be worth interest taking a look at no matter what your perspective is on immigration.

Also, ScholarCHIPS T-shirts are on sale now for $20 a piece. Buy one and model it for us! See your picture on my blog, Facebook and anywhere else you can think of!
PS: Im thinking of doing a competition for best photo...cash prize for best model photo of a ScholarCHIP T-Shirt? Huummm, not such a bad idea

"Back to Reality, Opp there Goes Gravity!" (Eminem)

Well, I'm back at school already. This weekend was a major success, with the ScholarCHIPS' Friendraiser. I truly believe that we raised up some great friends Saturday! When you plan and then invite people to events, I learned that, you can expect half the people to show up who RSVPed and half the people who were invited, but did not RSVP to show up...so you end up with about 50%. The house was full regardless! Good food and I peeped some great networking going on. What was kind of disappointing to me was that NONE of my former teachers from my elementary or high school showed up. Teachers from my Junior high school showed up. One would think that people who put their OWN precious time into teaching you and studying/staying up late to prepare for your class would want to see you doing well. I mean I am not a drop out, pregnant...you get the idea. But, I do understand that LIFE HAPPENS! People have emergencies, better, more fun places to go. I know in my heart that all the folks that were meant to be there were there. Aside from that, on the train coming back to school yesterday a whole terrible sinus headache/drainage thing came upon me. First my head was pounding then my throat started closing up, my ears started hurting, then my stomach...it went all throughout my body in the span of 7 hours. But I must say I have a hell of a good immune system, because it was working to get that thing OUT! Now I feel much better. Woke up, drank some hot Earl Grey tea, took my Vitamin C tablets, Halls cough drops, about to eat my potassium filled banana...YES!
Another thought...Man, I seriously need to work on improving my social life. It is important to one's mental and even physical health. I work hard on planning big events, see a ton of people and then, when all is done and said I am back here or somewhere just sitting on my rump, alone, planning again. I enjoy it, but some "buddy support" would certainly help. Today it's...write a 1/1.5 page paper, go to Global Class for 1 hr 40 min, then gym...then...??? How about some social time?! I feel great though...light, my nails and toe nails are well groomed, my hair is well groomed, wearing comfortable clothes...could a girl ask for more?! Friday though, I did spend time with my favorite girlfriend, Ruthy and her fam! Sister is driving now! So much fun...young, feeling free and independent, buckled in with music turned up!
SHOUT OUT TO ALL THOSE WHO CAME OUT AND SUPPORTED SCHOLARCHIPS! Our shirts look great! I posted some pictures on the blog. Check 'em out! Also, I had the privilege to have another photo shoot, FOR FREE! Got three great free ones in one year...and I had the nerve to want to pay for a private session. haha :)
PS: Two weeks away from Gospel Choir Tour to Florida--Getting pumped! I need a break/trip/ life-transforming spiritual experience FO' REAL!
