Today's Funny Food for Thought

If pro is the opposite of con, is progress the opposite of congress?

WOW! I love it when I randomly stumble across food for thought...I have talked about it before so it's nothing new, but I think it is both incredible and commendable when people are able to dissect song lyrics (which often have dual or subliminal messages anyhow) and explain the meaning/s we do not pick up...either because we are completely engrossed by the beat (which I sometimes fall victim to myself) or simply just do not understand all the hidden 'oh so complex' metaphors. What am I talking about..., well none other than the greatest and wealthiest hip hop music empire in modern day and perhaps that ever existed...Roc Nation, Jay Z's musical empire, which includes all the super dee duper stars such as Beyonce, Rihanna, Kanye West and their newbie Rita Ora (who undeniably looks smack like Beyonce in the face and has Rihanna's body and sex appeal dance moves). Anyways...I was looking up Kanye and Jay Z's song "No Church in the Wild." And low and behold what I found. I've always heard all of them shouting out NEW WORLD ORDER and Jay Z calling himself "Hova"...abbreviation for Jehovah which in modern day Christian talk refers to Lord/Savior. I cannot speak on it's Hebrew or Greek or Latin definitions, because I am not sure and I do not want to get it wrong...but if he means what it sounds like he means...He is one giant Crazy (Im saying this is the nicest way I know how. lol) Anyways, I am not going to spill all the beans. But I will leave you with a few things to ponder and the article I read. Here is the hook to the song "No Church in the Wild"...

Human beings in a mob 
What's a mob to a king? What's a king to a God? What's a God to a non-believer who don't believe in anything? Will he make it out alive? Alright, alright, no church in the wild


What do these interpret these lyrics to mean? Do they mean anything? What is meant by the term 'wild' in this case? I think the song is interesting to dissect whether you are spiritual in any way or not. Hip hop often both leads us and want us to believe that the lyrics are always about the hood, 'surviving in the ghetto,' and or black/minority people's struggles, while this is sometimes truth there is an even deeper meaning, especially in these gentlemen's songs....a spiritual one perhaps? 


I know you probably think I am crazy....but sometimes we simplify life too much AND MUSIC! Not to say that everything needs to be complex all the time, but we often miss so much because we SEE only what we want to see...GET ME?

LIVING JUST ENOUGH...FOR THE CITY!♫

Hola Amigos y my pueblo guapo...beautiful people. I don't know exactly what to say. It's been a minute, as they say. All I know is that I HAVE MISSED THE CITY! I am so glad to be back in DC. I am focusing on launching my modeling career, organizing a book of poetry and promoting ScholarCHIPS all at the same time. Everyday brings something new...no matter how big or small...exciting or stressful.

Im loving that my calendar schedule is back to being full. Never ever a dull moment. What they say is true..."You can take the girl out the city, but chu can't take the city out the girl!"

I am doing a spoken word piece this coming Friday (June) at Bourbon Coffee in DC from 6-8pm on Sex Trafficking. It's such a powerful piece. I have not preformed in a long time. I wrote it one night after doing research and watching a few MSNBC documentaries entitled "Sex Slaves." It is a sad reality, but yet very interesting and eye opening. You should watch. 300, 000 AMERICAN GIRLS believe it or not are abducted into Sex Trafficking in the US and 17,000 foreign girls/women are deported from poor countries abroad into sex trafficking here. 1 million are estimated to be pulled into the industry each year. Who knew it happened here?....oh, more than you think or would ever know. Drug dealers no longer sell drugs...but human services. Anyways...I plan to record the performance and then post it. DEEP STUFF! The overall poetry slam theme is Global Issues and the Title is "Thinking on World Peace." I am going to play/pun on that term "World Peace" in my piece! lol see...Im doing it already.

Not much new to tell you except for the AWESOME NEWS that ScholarCHIPS will be awarding our first college scholarship recipients ever in Washington, DC June 23rd. Place TBA. Please mark your calendars. The ceremony will be in the afternoon. 


Not much else to tell you...YET, but there's a lot coming down the pipe form various directions (or in that case it would be pipes right?) lol. Sometimes I wish I could fast forward 10 or 20 years.

I'VE GOT HIS BACK 2012!

He stole our hearts back in 2008 on the campaign trail and swept us off of our feet with his smooth demeanor, strong rapport with the everyday American/Average Joes, and his optimistic yet realistic plans. As with any famous politician, I have miserably watched the media poke fun at him over the course of his reign as president. Remember when President Obama was dejectedly interrupted with the phrase “You Lie!” shouted at him during his State of the Union Address? Or what about the time they criticized him for taking a family vacation. The exact explanation as to why he was being criticized was, “It is not appropriate for the president to leave the White House when financial markets are plummeting and unemployment remains high.” Really? Really though? I’m sure all congressmen and representatives take vacations. The President has more pressure on him at all times probably more than anyone in the entire world and if not that, in the entire United States…why can’t he take his family on a mini vacation? Also, do you remember the time Republicans picked on and made fun of the First Lady’s behind? They criticized her for so heavily promoting eating healthy and staying fit, but eating a plate full or ribs and poking fun at the fact that her tail is round and full. I mean just plain ridiculousness! However, people who do not follow Presidential legislation and only read online Yahoo headlines are prone to criticize and think that President Obama has done a terrible job! Let me clear that up RIGHT NOW—HE HAS DONE A TERRIFIC JOB AND I SUPPORT HIM 199.99%!

Let’s take a look at some of the novel things he’s done over the course of only four years. Let’s start off with the BIG, REALLY IMPORTANT THINGS SHALL WE?! Don’t you remember the stimulus package? It actually did boost economic growth and spending. President Obama was the ONE who brought the troops out of Iraq and not only that but sent a group of Navy Seals to kill Osama Bin Laden, one of the number one threats to the US for years! He also ended the “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” policy in our military. He appointed two women (one being the first Hispanic woman ever appointed) to the Supreme Court (of only four women justices in the Supreme Court’s ENTIRE history)! He passed the Hate Crimes bill and invested in clean energy, health care and so much more. The first few things I mentioned are more than enough, I think, to give the man the credit he deserves. Not to mention all the fire he’s gotten from adversaries on all sides. Remember the whole, ‘Oh he wasn’t even born in the United States?’ Our own President had to release his birth certificate to the world and sure enough, he is one of our own! One of OUR OWN! And they have the nerve to talk about living in a ‘post-racial’ society. Ha. Yeah, sure you’re right…

Yet and still, he has faced all the criticism with grace and humility. He has never backed down from trying the absolute best he can to represent and be true to hard-working Americans. I remember even when he was running he never stooped down to mud-slinging campaign advertisements. Aside from breaking history, and a huge glass ceiling for minorities, He has truly restored our hope in our country, our families (bringing back troops), and our belief that the United States of America is truly the best place in the world to live. I remember when he won the presidential race how people ran out of their houses and bars into the streets, cheering and praising God and the tears from thousands of people…people who fought for freedom and equality during the Civil Rights movement (my great-great grandparents), celebrities, and political leaders across the world, as he gave his acceptance speech. I remember hugging my grandmother and us crying our eyes out. I certainly hope we Americans have not forgotten that victorious moment in history already! Let’s bring the magic back and the hope back!

President Barack Obama has fought for us without ceasing, so I ask you, won’t you keep fighting?! In the words of world music revolutionary Bob Marley, “Get up, stand up, stand up for Ya Rights! This year, because I can vote (now 19) I will be voting…I will be fighting for the future of my country, my American brothers and sisters, my family, and myself. I’VE GOT HIS BACK 2012! Sex Lyrics Smeared Over By Hip Beats/Do You Know What's On your Kid's Playlist?

This is what happens when you're in college...TO MUCH TIME! I found the answer to the teen pregnancy thing....it's in the music. I wonder if we really know what are children and teens are listening to in the music these days. These princes and princesses of the airways put terrible, sexual lyrics in their songs and stick amazing fun beats on the songs and these are what the radio stations play on repeat ALL DAY LONG. Kids are listening to this stuff every day all day...in the car, on their ipods, in the gym, on pandora, in the shopping mall, on tv...no wonder. Rihanna has a few new explicit implying songs...'Cake' and 'Cockiness.' I am not even going to share the main lyrics because they are just that bad, but in cake she sings "It's not even my birthday and he wants to lick the icing off"....????? And Katy Perry (who I found out started off as a gospel singer) has a song called Peacock. "Im intrigued for a peek. Heard it's fascinating.....Ima peace out if you don't give me the payoff." GUYS...Yes. they play these songs over and over on the radio and we arent listening to these songs, but our babies are. This IS NOT OKAY! They do not even edit songs anymore or blurb words...they do not even wait til 'after dark' for the 'grown and sexy' anymore.
I honestly wish I was born and raised in the 80s and 90s...when the music meant something and you could slow dance without jumping someone's bones. If you do not know what's one your children's/teens' playlists, please find out.

I do not agree, but someone out there reading just may: I'm sorry to have to say this, but there is no utopia waiting for you in the afterlife. All that s**t in the bible is bulls**t propaganda. You should do some research on how the bible was constructed, it purpose is to control people. Humans aren't the only species that participate in homesexual behavior. You should enjoy your life and and do what makes you happy, just as long as you aren't harming anyone. Because after you die, it'll be just like before you were born, you will cease to exist!!!

Teen Pregnancy On the Rise and INTENTIONAL! 0_O

Haha! Hey there! I'm feeling so relieved. I finished my big presentation and 10 page paper for Global class and initial research proposal for my African Geography class (which I will disclose soon). Now I have to start packing to be outta here by May 15th....CRAZINESS! I am no longer fresh-meat! haha I am almost completed with my freshman year.
I wanted to bring up something that I have been seeing a little too often on Facebook and it is disturbing me and that is teenage pregnancy. What I have found though from watching interviews of pregnant teenagers on Tyra and Dr. Phil and seeing comments on Facebook, is that these teens are INTENTIONALLY having children. There was one teen on Tyra who was about 15 and she was living with her 18 year old boyfriend. Her mother let him stay in the house in the same bed as her teen daughter and of course they were sexually active and she got pregnant because the girl purposely stopped taking birth control. What mother in their right mind let's that go down? One girl thought having a baby by her ex would bring them closer together....WHAT?! The stories only get more insane. I also found out that in a lot of states 16 year old girls can be strippers as long as they are off of the streets by 11pm or 12pm. Ok so these girls cannot vote, drink, bare arms, or barely drive, but they can parade around naked?
Do you see why I get so confused? I do not know what's happening to young girls these days...are their mothers not talking to them or are the fathers not there to instill values into their daughters...? Is it both? I struggle to 'take care of myself' and I occasionally come upon stumbling blocks in my relationship, as does anyone tied to another human being. These girls are being selfish because you know the responsibility is going to fall FLAT on the faces of the mothers and most of the time the grandmothers. Why is having sex even an option for these girls? Why do mothers make it an "option"? Talking about "Oh, if you do decide to become sexually active come to me and we'll go get you birth control." NO! NO! NO! Almost all the girls I have known who were sexually active at a young age, with birth control or not, ended up having a baby. Having Baby is not like a having a puppy! (lol, but true)
I am going to literally SCARE MY DAUGHTER! That will not be an option for her! Absolutely not. I am going to let her know that if any "boy" who thinks he's a grown man truly LOVES her, then he will wait. Why aren't we instilling values of self-worth and education into our girls? It may not be that...it may be media, because the media does tend to 'glamorize' teen pregnancy. They did this with Sarah Palin's daughter. Palin said she was very disappointed, but the media did not portray that, but instead that the family was being celebratory. Some young girls seem to be absolutely ok with the fact that a man will give her a baby, WILL NOT MARRY HER and most of the time after the baby is three years old wont support it and moves on to the next one. It really saddens my heart. Even if they were to have them so young, at least get married first...but really, that does not make any sense. Talk about leaving and cleavin...more like staying n preying on little baby girls!
Honestly in the scheme of things...as a young child/teen the priority should not even be physical relationships, especially if they were taught the right thing. It should be 'Girl, you better focus on getting those As in English and Math!" Yes as humans we have natural human desires and lusts, but at 13 and 15 years old? The bottom line is that these girls have NOT A DROP OF FEAR in them of their parents or God, much less respect for THE REST OF THEIR ENTIRE LIVES AND their futures and the life of an innocent child. We glitterize it too much. Moms say 'oh the damage is done now' and throws a BIG BABY SHOWER and the kid has 10 pairs of air jordans before it's even born. THIS BUFFOONERY MAKES NO SENSE...SOMEONE CLARIFY FOR ME! LOL Yes, babies are gifts, dont get me wrong, but what about the 'gift' of a secure life, secure family, traveling the world, getting a PHD, etc? IM DONE. We have totally lost sight of the value and sacredness of marriage, and sex between two MARRIED people and having two parents under their own roof raising the child/ren they made together. As my mother and grandmother always told me..."KEEP YOU BOOKS OPEN AND YOUR LEGS CLOSED." Best advice of my LIFE! If only girls knew that doing that, will actually get you further! It will get you respect, a ring, a family, a house...TOP THAT STEVE HARVEY! LOL
